What is Toastmasters?
Toastmasters is a self development group aimed at helping members improve their communication and leadership skills. Through better listening, better thinking and better speaking. Whether it be speaking to a small or large group, Toastmasters can help YOU!

Established in 1924, Toastmasters operates worldwide in 52 countries with more than 200,000 members in over 8,000 clubs.

How can Toastmasters help you?
A person's ability to do anything is greatly enhanced by the level of confidence they have in their abilities. In public speaking, confidence is about overcoming fears and controlling nerves. Surveys consistently show that people fear public speaking more than they fear dying!

Toastmasters will help you learn how to overcome these fears, control nerves and increase your confidence.

Leadership skills
The underlying strength of Toastmasters lies in our structure, organisation and operation. From presenting items at meetings to acting as chairman to serving as a club officer, Toastmasters offer a range of opportunities for you to develop your leadership skills.

Towards better meetings
Toastmasters also aims to help members become more knowledgeable with meeting procedure. This is achieved by conducting formal business sessions where the use of correct meeting procedure is practised.

Quite often, debate will be humorous and inconsequential during these sessions as the emphasis is on learning about procedures.

Who can join?
Anyone over the age of 18 can apply to become a member of Toastmasters. Most clubs have about equal numbers of males and females from a wide range of careers and ages.

Visitors welcome
Visitors can come to meetings as often as they like until you decide whether to join or not.

Tamworth Toastmasters can

  • Help you increase your confidence
  • Help you build self-esteem
  • Help you improve your ability to think quickly
  • Help you develop your leadership skills
  • Help you improve your job interview skills
  • Help you learn meeting procedure
  • Provide an evening of fun and learning

Toastmasters' Mission
The Mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills which, in turn, foster self-confidence and personal growth.
